Sony set to release Mocopi body sensors to enable full movement in VR

Sony will begin taking preorders later this month for its new ‘mocopi’ (motion copy) device, a mobile motion capture system that translates real-time motion input to motion capture in virtual reality (VR) using a compact, lightweight sensor and smartphone.

The product easily creates avatar video and motion data production including full-body movements indoors and outdoors, and also uses VRChat as a motion input device.

In addition, the acquired motion data is used for metaverse services and 3D development software. A software development kit (SDK) will be available from December 15. This SDK will enable the development of new services in fields including the metaverse and fitness by increasing the freedom of visual expression in virtual space and expanding the use of motion data activities such as full-body tracking.
